Join us in continuing our effort to clean up and repair Trail 89! The popularity of this trail shows us how important motorized recreation is in this area. Trail 89 is a model of how our designated trail system will be designed, when we get it completed. It also illustrates how important sufficient mileage is to the system--too few miles result in overuse and necessary repairs like the work we will continue to do on this section.

We will meet at the Nemo Guest Ranch Store on November 15th at 10a.m.  From there we will proceed to the USFS work center and dispatch volunteers.  We will be marking the trail with carsonite and metal signs.  Our primary focus will be the area near Dalton Lake, but if we have enough volunteers we will cover the entire 13 miles or so from Dalton to Pilot Knob.  There are confusing areas near the lake and the community of Nemo where a damaged hillside was closed (continue down the trail and enter the Guest Ranch from Old Sawmill Road).

Directions to the Nemo Guest Ranch:  From the east on I-90: Take Rapid City Deadwood Ave exit 55 south to a right turn onto West Omaha which becomes West Chicago which becomes West Main which becomes South Canyon which becomes Nemo Road. Travel Nemo Road for approximately 30 minutes (16 miles) to the resort. OR, From the west on I-90: Take Sturgis exit 32. Take Vanocker Canyon Road 16 miles south until it Ts into Nemo Road. Turn left for 1/4 mile to Nemo.
